Graphic Design: The New Basics

Graphic Design: The New Basics by Ellen Lupton and Jennifer Cole Phillips is a great book for beginners about graphic design in general. It covers everything, from elements and principles of design to typography and printing.

One thing that stands out from the book is definitely the way it presents itself. As a book on graphic design, it definitely delivers visually and prove to the readers that they should trust it. From the typography to the art, everything is aesthetically pleasing and professionally done. Of course, most books are like this, but this book is especially interesting, as there’s a very clear feeling that its aesthetics is intentional and not just to lure to viewers’ eyes. Everything has a sense that the audience is graphic designers themselves.
